World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 to win the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, on Sunday, claiming the trophy for the first time on home soil.

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner added another big title to his tremendous year by beating U.S. Open runner-up Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 for the ATP Finals trophy before his home fans and before a final verdict is reached in his doping case.

Jannik defeated Taylor in the round-robin stage, and they met again in the final. Sinner stood too strong, controlling the pace and moving over the top with a single break in each set. Thus, the Italian became the first player since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win the premium ATP event without losing a set.
