IBM has selected AMD to provide AI accelerators for the IBM Cloud. This is another milestone for AMD, which needs cloud adoption to achieve its goals. And IBM adds security and credibility with IBM watsonx as the two companies collaborate to help IBM clients transform their business with AI.

IBM and AMD join forces to develop a groundbreaking AI Accelerator Service, set to revolutionize AI capabilities and cloud computing by 2025.

IBM Cloud added Nvidia H100 GPUs to its cloud platform in October 2024, a year after deploying Nvidia A100s. It is also adding Intel's Gaudi 3 to its offerings. IBM is reportedly in discussions with AWS for a $475m deal in which IBM will use AWS for AI cloud services.

Technology major IBM and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have joined forces to offer AMD Instinct MI300X accelerators as a service on IBM Cloud. This AI accelerator service is expected to be available in the first half of 2025.
