Feb. 24 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Browns will release veteran safety Juan Thornhill, he confirmed Monday on social media. Thornhill, 29, totaled 49 combined tackles and three passes defensed over 11 starts last season. The six-year veteran signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Browns in 2023.

Veteran Browns left guard Joel Bitonio is still mulling over whether he'll be playing for the team in 2025. Bitonio said late in December that he would take a couple of weeks after the season to decide whether to return for a 12th season.

The Cleveland Browns entered the offseason with news just as bad as the 3-14 season that preceded it. Edge rusher Myles Garrett has publicly requested a trade, hoping to chase a championship in the second half of his career.
