Hurricane Erin was a Category 4 storm Monday morning and is expected to retain major hurricane status through the middle of the week.

Erin is expected to become a hurricane Friday morning, Aug. 15 and a major hurricane by Sunday morning. Erin has become an unusually large and deceptively worrisome storm moving through the Caribbean, with its tropical storm winds stretching 200 miles from its core.
