How to Format Your Chart in Excel - MSN

In Excel, users can add predefined layouts and styles to format their charts quickly. In this tutorial, we will explain how to apply layouts and styles to your chart in Microsoft Excel.
Head to the Insert > Charts menu and select the chart type you want to insert. Lets add a pie chart. You can select a chart and click the style icon to change its appearance.
Under “Insert,” select “Chart,” then “Stacked Bar.” This will create a stacked bar chart (a bar graph where the bars are horizontal from the left) with your Start dates as the X-axis.
Excel automatically inserts the graph, but it has no labels. Review the new green "Chart Tools" tab and ribbon at the top of the screen. If you don't see them, click the chart to enable them.
Click the Insert tab and choose PivotTable in the Tables group. Excel does a good job of determining your needs, as you can see in Figure C. Take a moment to review the settings and then click Insert.
