PITTSBURGH -- Adam Fox scored the go-ahead goal at 11:26 of the third period, and J.T. Miller scored twice for the New York Rangers in a 5-3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Sunday.

Just 24 hours after both clubs were dismantled by their respective opponents, the Pittsburgh Penguins (23-27-9) and New York Rangers (28-25-4) went head-to-head on Sunday afternoon inside PPG Paints Arena.

Adam Fox scored the go-ahead goal at 11:26 of the third period, J.T. Miller had two goals and the New York Rangers rallied to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 on Sunday.

Surely, if Igor Shesterkin plays the rest of the season the way he did on Sunday, when he made 36 saves – many of them spectacular – to steal a 5-3 win for the Rangers over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Rangers will get into the playoffs. His next test is Tuesday night against the Islanders at UBS Arena.

When the 2024-25 season began, only the hopelessly optimistic believed the Pittsburgh Penguins could contend for anything more than a lower-level slot in the Eastern Conference playoff field.
