Two separate lawsuits have been filed over the deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak in Harlem. Both lawsuits claim construction companies failed to protect workers from unsafe conditions that led to the spread of the disease.

A fifth person has died in connection with a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in New York City, health officials said.

"This medical tragedy... was a completely preventable outbreak," the plaintiffs’ attorney Ben Crump told reporters Wednesday in Harlem.
