The Metropolitan Transportation Authority held its first of three public hearings on the proposed rate hike, which would raise the cost of a bus or subway ride from $2.90 to $3.

The MTA will hold two final public hearings allowing the public to weigh in on the proposed fare hikes. The second public hearing will take place at New York City Transit Authority in Brooklyn Monday.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is down a representative on the MTA board, giving him one fewer voice to protest the transit agency’s proposed fare hike.
