The Minnesota Vikings‘ QB situation is currently in what could be considered a “happy mess”, with the team having multiple strong options to choose from as the Sam Darnold decision looms nearer and nearer.

ESPN's Rich Cimini argued a former Minnesota Vikings general manager could pursue bringing quarterback Kirk Cousins to his new team.

If Cousins were to want to leave Atlanta, he would have to approve of any move due to the no-trade clause within his contract. Not only is that a hurdle the Falcons may have to jump through, but they will likely have to eat more than $37.5 million of Cousins's salary.

The Falcons need to decide what to do with Kirk Cousins. The most obvious choices are these: (1) pay him $27.5 million to serve as the backup to Michael Penix Jr. in 2025; or (2) cut Cousins before a $10 million injury guarantee in 2026 transforms into a full guarantee.

On Feb. 20, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin named the three best fits for Cousins this offseason. Unsurprisingly, he identified the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, two teams who have been linked to Cousins throughout this offseason.

Cousins is technically still under contract with Atlanta, but the expectation is that he will be released before a $10m bonus becomes due on March 17th. Cleveland has been rumored
