More than 110 bands will take the field to compete in the Bands of America Grand National Championships this week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. At the end of three days, the top band will take home the coveted eagle trophy,

Three marching bands from West Michigan competed in the national championships this weekend, and two of them made the semifinals!

Murray won the awards in their class for outstanding music, outstanding visual performance and outstanding general effect in semifinals.

Bands of America announced the winners of its Grand National Championships on Sunday, and two Indiana schools finished in first and second place. According to a Facebook post from Bands of America, Avon High School was crowned the grand champion just after midnight.

The preliminary round of the competition kicked off Thursday morning, Nov. 14, at 7 a.m. and ran through 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

Avon, Carmel and Castle are still in the running for the national title. They'll perform tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium.
