Tonight, Central Florida will see a few showers and thunderstorms mainly east of Orlando, with lows in the upper 70s.
Central Florida will be breezy and warm on Wednesday with lower chances for rain and storms. Our area will see some fast-moving showers with high temperatures in the low 90s Wednesday afternoon. Winds will blow from the north-northwest at speeds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph.
The overall rain outlook for the rest of this week features a daily round of afternoon showers and storms, but with periods of hot sunshine in between.
Hurricane Erin is fueling dangerous surf and rip currents along Florida’s east coast this week, with waves topping 8 feet and a High Surf Advisory in effect through Thursday.
A wildfire burning in western Broward County sent the smell of smoke and haze into the air early Wednesday. The fire, dubbed the Mile Marker 39 fire, had burned 1600 acres by Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Fire Service. It was 0% contained. Another blaze, named the Sawgrass Fire, was 250 acres in size and was also 0% contained.

Morning clouds will help cap daytime heat in Central Florida on Sunday, Spectrum News 13 meteorologist Zach Covey said. Showers and storms are expected in the area in the afternoon, Covey said.
Increased rain chances and cloud cover across the state will help keep conditions slightly “cooler” than some of the last few weeks.
