MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Typhoon Man-yi left at least seven people dead in a landslide, destroyed houses and displaced large numbers of villagers before blowing away from the northern Philippines, worsening the crisis wreaked by multiple back-to-back storms, officials said Monday.

Typhoon Man-yi is the latest typhoon to strike the Philippines, and the sixth At least eight people died from the super typhoon, according to local disaster officials. A 72-year-old man in Camarines Norte died in a vehicle crash caused by hanging wires from the storm,

Man-Yi, the sixth storm to hit the country in a span of one month, made landfall in the eastern province of Catanduanes on Saturday, but weakened as it moved across the main Luzon island and was later downgraded to a typhoon as it exited the landmass Monday.

The Philippines and the United States will sign on Monday a military intelligence-sharing deal, Manila's defence ministry said, in a further deepening of security ties between the two defence treaty allies.
