The Las Vegas Raiders lost to the San Francisco 49ers 22-19 in Week 2 of the preseason. As expected, Geno Smith played very little, completing 6-of-8 passes for 55 yards before making way for Aidan O'Connell and Cam Miller. From there, the Raiders ' position battle at backup quarterback raged forward.
The long stalemate between the Cincinnati Bengals and star pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson has heated up in the past 24 hours as the team is now reportedly open to trading the sack leader. Reportedly, the Bengals are looking for a young defensive player and a 2026 first-round pick for Hendrickson.
Rookies Ashton Jeanty and Jaxson Dart impress in week two of NFL pre-season as Caleb Williams also looks sharp in Chicago Bears shutout.
The Raiders' receiving corps are pretty thin, in stark contrast to Smith's Seahawks days when he had D.K. Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett at his disposal. In Vegas, it's pretty much Jakobi Meyers and a bunch of unproven players at the position, which will make things difficult for Smith.

Powers joined the Raiders in 1963, undrafted out of Nebraska. He had at least five interceptions every season from 1964-67 and was a starting DB for the Raiders team in Super Bowl II. He finished his career with 22 interceptions in six seasons with the Raiders.
While Jay Croucher and Drew Dinsick have reservations about the Raiders' defense and receiving corps, they believe Las Vegas could be a cover "darling" in 2025-26 and a smart under bet in win total markets.
The second preseason game versus the Las Vegas Raiders was more entertaining for the San Francisco 49ers than the first. Part of that is because the starters got a bit of action, but it's also because the 49ers had some players stand out.
