Scarlett Johansson made her debut as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in “Iron Man 2” (2010) and went on to become one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Black Widow wasn’t just a character, and Johansson wasn’t just an actress in a costume. She was, for over a decade, the lone female Avenger in a testosterone-heavy cinematic universe.

In an interview with InStyle published Tuesday, Johansson insisted that Marvel fans need to let go of Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a Black Widow, the MCU hero she played onscreen for 11 years.
